Gift Book

I have decorated an A5 book for my project this time.  I like to keep a note of the presents I give at Christmas each year so that people don't get the same thing each time!!!  I can also keep an eye on my spending that way too :D

I covered the book with 2 layers of white gesso before adding some white modelling paste through the pretty STEAMPUNK CHRISTMAS TREE STENCIL.  I also added a little texture paste through some punchinella here and there.  While this was drying I took 3 snowflakes out of the MINI SNOWFLAKES PACK and painted them in pale blue before covering them with stickles.

A small bookplate was painted with primary Magenta, covered with Crackle Glaze then had Titanium antiquing Cream rubbed into it when dry.

When the book cover was dry and set I painted over the whole piece with Titanium White and added some little stamped snowflakes in Archival Plum, using the 2nd stamping.  The stencil was replaced and Primary Magenta was stencilled onto the tree.  Some pale blue was dry brushed in places.

I stamped the word 'Gifts' onto some white card and glued it to the bookplate before glueing it to the base of the tree.  The snowflakes were glued in place and some more stickle dots were added here and there for extra sparkle.  Some fancy lace finished the book off.

Winter Wonderland

Hellooooo!  I have been having a lot of fun creating a Winter Wonderland for The Craft Barn using *Tando Creative* products.  The prompt was to use *Tando Snowflakes* which is a lovely selection of chippie snowflakes all in one pack!  I went a little further and created this scene using the wonderfully versatile *Art Room*... its very sparkly and such a shame that you can't see that...

a closer look...

For details of how I created this please take a look over *here*.

I hope your Christmasy preparations are going well!!!!  Take care xxx

Blue and brown box!

Hi, its colour theme week again over at Tando Creative and for this I have decorated the *Tic Tac Toe Box* (without the noughts & crosses etc).

After I glued all the pieces together and added some gesso I spread some *white modelling paste* through Gio's pretty *Eighties* mask/stencil.  When this was dry I went over the whole top of the box with the lighter blue in the colour them, then , putting the mask back over, I added the two terracotta colours and the dark brown. (I added the dark brown after this pic was taken)

I added *Crackle Glaze* over the two colours above and around the edge of the box.  When that was dry I added *Red Oxide Antiquing Cream*, rubbing it back when it was dry.  I added *Liquid Glass* to the dark brown areas.

The sides of the lid were painted in dark brown and the base was painted in the blue.  I lined the bottom of the base with brown felt and the inside of the lid with patterned paper.  Then I went round all the edges with a copper pen.

Inside the lid...

Thank you for joining me today, do come and visit again soon! Take care x

Decorated shelf

Helloooooooo :-p

I am kick-starting the week off with a decorated BOOKCASE/ SHELF unit.  I love these and have done a fair few of these in the past.  They are around 11inches long and are designed for CD's but are also brilliant for mini books!  This little MDF shelf is also a BARGAIN at £3.99!!!!

I have painted it with 2 blue tones of Fresco chalk paint and then stencilled using the SEQUIN WASTE MASK .  I used the whole stencil so that I had varying sizes of dots.  The flowers have been stamped and paper pieced. Then I went around the edges with a toning colour.

The mask I used...such a handy one to have...

Stamping Elephant!

Hello!  I have been working with a Natalie Kalbach stamp today, the wonderful ELEPHANT!!!  This stamp is amazing value as there are two stamps in the pack as well as a lovely 5x7 stencil to play with!  Each elephant is different though the same size and shape.  These stamps are big at nearly 7inches long.  With this in mind I thought I would stamp onto fabric for my project!

For the main body I chose some bright cotton fabric and stamped onto the reverse so that I had some soft shading.  Then I stamped again onto the bright side for the 'blanket' and cut that section out.  I decorated that with beads and bobbly braid.  Another whole elephant was cut out and I stitched them together leaving a gap for stuffing, adding a ribbon to hang by and a tail as well as incorporating the 'blanket' into the seam.  Then I added some more braid and a button & bead for the eye.
